DESCRIPTION:
Teicoplanin is a glycopeptide antibiotic with a similar mechanism of action and spectrum of activity to vancomycin used to treat various infections caused by gram-positive bacteria.
INDICATIONS:
Bactiplan (Teicoplanin) is indicated in adults and in children from birth for the parenteral treatment of the following infections.
• Hospital acquired pneumonia
• Community acquired pneumonia
• Bone and joint infections
• Complicated urinary tract infections
• Peritonitis associated with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD)
• Infective endocarditis
• Complicated skin and soft tissue infections
• Bacteremia that occurs in association with any of the indications listed above.
Teicoplanin is also indicated as an alternative oral treatment for Clostridium difficile infection-associated diarrhea and colitis.
PRESENTATION:
Bactiplan 200mg IM/IV injection: 1 vial of 200mg
Teicoplanin and 1 ampoule of 5mL sterile water for injection.
Bactiplan 400mg IM/IV injection: 1 vial of 400mg
Teicoplanin and 1 ampoule of 5mL sterile water for injection.
