Formoterol Fumarate Dihydrate + Budesonide

DESCRIPTION:

FORACORT is a combination inhaler of Formoterol, a bronchodilator and Budesonide, an anti-inflammatory agent. It is used as a reliever and maintenance therapy in Asthma and COPD.

COMPOSITION:

FORACORT 200mcg inhaler contains Formoterol 6mcg + Budesonide 200mcg suspended in Propellant HFA-134a FORACORT 100mcg inhaler contains Formoterol 6mcg + Budesonide 100mcg suspended in Propellant HFA-134a

INDICATIONS:

Regular treatment of asthma, Patients not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids and “as needed” inhaled short acting beta2 agonists Symptomatic treatment of COPD.

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:

Start: 2 inhalations twice daily Maintain: 1 inhalation twice daily OR 1-2 inhalations once daily

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

FORACORT is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Budesonide, Formoterol or any of the components.

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS:

Candida infection – Pneumonia, Lower RTIs, Immunosuppression – Hypercorticism, Adrenal suppression, Glaucoma, Cataracts and Growth effects in pediatric patients

PRESENTATION:

FORACORT Inhaler is available in a canister containing 120 metered doses.

PREGNANCY & LACTATION:

Foracort should only be used when the benefits outweigh the potential risks. Foracort to women who are breastfeeding should only be considered if the expected benefit to the mother is greater than any possible risk to the child.

Patients should consult with their physician before taking any medicine.
